In Rick Barnes’ final season as the Friars’ head coach, the men’s team entered their conference tournament as a four seed, holding the tiebreaker over Villanova and Georgetown. Providence went on a tear by defeating Villanova, getting an underdog win against one-seed UConn, and beating Georgetown in the championship game.
